Coaching education is important to ensure that today's youth players are receiving the training they need to succeed. USA Football Regional Manager Bassel Faltas shares his thoughts on what you can do to improve your game.

  • Northwest Regional Manager Bassel Faltas will help lead USA Football Coaching Schools in several states throughout the spring.

Practice makes perfect, right? And attending a USA Football Coaching School can help. There are 48 clinics scheduled to take place this spring, and Northwest Regional Manager Bassel Faltas will host a handful in his region, along with six other regional managers across the country.

Coaching is nothing new for Faltas. He began his career in 1993 at Aptos High School in California as the team's DB/RB coach. He made the jump to head coach in 1998 at Salinas High School, and later moved on to Santa Cruz High School in 2000, where he remained for seven years.

In the summer of 2007, Faltas took on his current position - offensive coordinator for the Cabrillo College Seahawks - and the team went on to win the conference and become Shrine Bowl Champions that same year.

This was a return home for Faltas, who played for the Seahawks following his days at Monterey High School. Faltas first took the field in fifth grade as a Monterey 49er, and he has been hooked ever since.

"The game of football has always been a part of my life," he said. "I knew I always wanted to teach and coach."

Take a listen as Faltas breaks down a USA Football Coaching School and what you and your fellow coaches can look to gain from the experience.
