Week Four: International Student Program

All eight members of the USA Football International Student Program helped their prep schools to victory this weekend in Connecticut, Illinois and New Hampshire.

The Kent School and Kimball Union Academy remained undefeated this season as five ISP members from Australia, Denmark, Germany and Sweden contributed in their teams' third consecutive wins on Friday, Oct. 9.

First-year ISP member Damien Scannella (Stockholm, Sweden) produced for Kent, catching a 43-yard touchdown pass during a 29-7 win against the Brunswick School.

Second-year ISP members Robert King (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Luke Robinson (Sydney, Australia) faced their closest matchup of the season as they played both ways in the Kimball Union Wildcats 19-12 win at the Holderness School.

The USA Football International Student Program is in its fourth year of giving student-athletes from around the world an opportunity to play prep school American football in the United States.

The initiative is administered jointly by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) and USA Football and in 2009-10 features eight international football prospects.

Schools currently taking part in the ISP are the Kent School (Conn.), Salisbury School (Conn.), Lake Forest Academy (Ill.) and Kimball Union Academy (N.H.).

Week Four: Connecticut

With the help of three new ISP players from three different countries, the Kent School beat Brunswick School 29-7 on Friday, Oct. 9 to remain undefeated on the season.

First-year ISP member Damien Scannella (Stockholm, Sweden) continues to produce for the Kent School football team and caught a 43-yard touchdown pass during the win. Despite having an injury that prevented him from starting, he also made an interception in the third straight victory.

Rafael Oehme from Dresden, Germany, started for the Kent School at linebacker having a strong defensive performance as he collected six solo and two assisted tackles. The first-year ISP member has 17 total tackles this season.

First-year ISP member Nikola Bogojevic from Canberra, Australia, played sparingly due to an injury.

The three ISP members will line up on Saturday, Oct. 17 as the Kent School hosts Old Avon Farms. A week later, the Kent School varsity team will travel to England to take on the Filton College Pride in an exhibition game - Global Bowl Bristol - on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Bjoern Werner (Berlin, Germany) and Kai Brusch (Hamburg, Germany) ended the Salisbury School's two-game losing streak on Saturday, Oct, 10, defeating the Taft School 49-20 for the Crimson Knights' first victory of the season.

Werner continued to show his talent by contributing on both sides of the ball for Salisbury. The German native collected four tackles and a sack for a loss of 6 yards. He also had a reception for 9 yards when lining up at tight end.

He has played both ways every game for Salisbury this season, collecting 28 total tackles.

Teammate and Hamburg, Germany, native Kai Brusch added four tackles and a sack for a loss of 6 yards as Salisbury School improved to 1-2 on the season.

The two second-year ISP members will look to keep the momentum rolling on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Worcester Academy in Massachusetts.

Week Four: Illinois

First-year ISP member Lorenz Narku Laing from Mainz, Germany, started at right guard during Lake Forest Academy's third victory of the season on Saturday, Oct. 10.

LFA convincingly defeated La Lumiere School 40-6 as Lorenz collected a tackle for loss of yards.

The German native also provided the Caxy running backs with huge holes, making their running game very effective.

Lake Forest Academy will look to improve its 3-4 record on Saturday, Oct. 17 when hosting Leo High School.

Week Four: New Hampshire

Second-year ISP members, Luke Robinson from Sydney, Australia, and Robert King from Copenhagen, Denmark, started both ways during Kimball Union Academy's closest win of the season, as they defeated the Holderness School 19-12 on Friday, Oct. 9.

KUA trailed for the first time this season during the win. Holderness scored first, taking a 6-0 lead in the second quarter and regained the lead again in the third quarter before the Wildcats took control of the game in the fourth quarter.

King started at offensive and defensive tackle for the Wildcats who remain undefeated, currently holding a 3-0 record.

Robinson played at center and defensive end during the Wildcats' victory.

The second-year ISP members will look for another victory this season when Kimball Union Academy hosts Dexter School on Saturday, Oct. 17.
