USA Football, the sport's national governing body on youth and amateur levels, has assembled a Football and Wellness Committee to further promote best practices for America's youth and amateur football community.
The committee, composed of 17 experts spanning football coaching, player health, and other areas, will help shape USA Football's development resources and membership offerings to foster positive youth and amateur football experiences. The committee's expertise will be shared through www.usafootball.com, USA Football Magazine and USA Football's training events for youth football coaches, athletes, and league commissioners, which are conducted across the country.
USA Football is the official youth football development partner of the NFL, its 32 teams and the NFL Players Association.
USA Football's Football and Wellness Committee encompasses experts in the areas of coaching and equipment fitting, sports medicine and first aid, team sports insurance, neurology, orthopedics, exercise science, nutrition and athlete hydration. The committee roster represents the American Red Cross, the Andrews Institute, Gatorade Sports Science Institute, National Center for Sport Safety, Riddell and several leading universities.
"Bringing these leaders and their diversity of expertise together through USA Football's resources and programs is significant for the sport," said USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck. "We're proud to bring the committee's knowledge to the grassroots football community."
