About Independent Youth Football Leagues

Not every youth football organization is affiliated with a national organization or governing body.

Instead, these independent programs, which represent a majority of all youth football organizations, govern themselves with established by-laws, rules and regulations.

A typical independent youth football league has individual teams and youth clubs throughout the region, bound together with common rules of conduct and play. It is governed by a Board of Commissioners (Board). The Board includes an Executive Committee, elected by the participating clubs and teams.

Each independent league is unique in its own way due to many differences, including: demographics, socio-economic breakdown and historical statue within its community. The distinctiveness of an independent league can normally be found in its league objective, mission statement and by-laws.
