  • Back Judge
    [5-6-7] The back judge is an official positioned in the middle of the field, deep from the line of scrimmage. Also known as the "centerfielder", he is primary on passing plays and scrimmage kicks.
  • Backward Pass
    A backward pass is a pass thrown parallel with or toward the runner's end line.
  • Ball Dead
    The official raises his right arm directly above his shoulder, holding it for at least 2-seconds.
  • Ball is ready for play
    The official extends his right arm fully above his head and brings it straight down to his waist.
  • Batting
    Batting is intentionally striking the ball with the arm or hand.
