- Momentum
Momentum is when, on a pass interception, fumble, or kick inside the 5-yard line, the player's original momentum carries him into the end zone and the ball is declared dead in team possession or it goes out of bounds in the end zone. This is not a safety. - Motion
Motion is the legal movement of one Team A player, after being set, either parallel to or away from the line of scrimmage as the ball is snapped. - Muff
A muff is when a player touches a loose ball [either incidentally or intentionally].
