Olivier Moret has been in charge of the French national junior team since 2007 and has been involved with his nation's coaching set up since 1998.

The 40-year-old led France to third place in the 2008 European Junior Championship in Sevilla, Spain, winning the bronze medal and qualification for the 2009 IFAF Junior World Championship with a 28-14 victory over Denmark. France recorded a 2-1 record during the group stages.

Moret was a former director of the French Pôle Espoir, which ensures young players can continue their academic studies and while learning to play American Football, from 1999 to 2004.

In 1987 he was a founder of the Amiens Spartiates, which became established as one of the most successful clubs in the French first division.

Speaking after France had finished third in the European Junior Championship by beating Denmark, Moret said: "I think this tournament is more competitive than before. The gap between the best teams and the others is smaller now.

"We were close to beating Sweden (in group play) for a place in the final, so it was difficult to focus on this. But we took this as our final, and played a good game. Now of course we are delighted to have the opportunity to play in Canton against the best teams in the world."
